A Shaved Samwise

Let's start with a before picture:

The shaving of Sam the cat is an annual event at our home.

It goes MUCH better when we give him a sedative before taking him to the groomer's. It hadn't worn off when he came home, so here he is sleeping it off in the kitty drunk tank so as not to injure himself attempting to walk across the lino or something eqaully perilous.

LOVE the tail. They don't call it a lion cut for nothing.

Sam is so much happier since the shave, I think he was both overheated and generally uncomfortable with all that hair.

Daniel wasn't near as freaked out by the "new" Sam as our other cat Stella was. She hissed at him for about two days, but now seems to be mostly over it.

Action shot

Before the picture was taken, Daniel was sitting facing me and jabbering away. Stella the cat came up and laid down right behind him, up against his back so that I could see her face to the right of him and her tail to the left. Daniel, looking down, also saw her tail, twitching oh so close. As I picked up my camera, thinking what a cute shot this would be, Daniel continued to be mesmerized by her tail and Stella was looking up at him appreciating the adoration.

Just as I pushed down the "take picture" button, Daniel grabbed Stella's tail and held tight as she jumped up and caused him to spin like a top. There was a bit of squawking, and then she stared at him like she couldn't beleive he had just done that. His face held a similar expression. Stella decided to nap elsewhere.

Pre-crawling activities

On Friday Daniel was still doing what you'll see in the videos. By Monday he was crawling all over the living room. I'll try to remember to get a video of that this week.

Consonants

Daniel can often be heard "talking" to himself, the cats or us with these and other sounds. When he isn't busy put things in his mouth that is...

Cutie pie

Here a few pics of Daniel looking adorable in his overalls. Thanks Debbie!

Sleepy head

I know it's a bit blurry, but keep in mind that I took this picture in a darkened bedroom whilst trying not to wake up the child. I just can't believe the positions he gets himself into and then falls asleep that way!

Pretty as a picture

We started as a travel blog, and now we seem to be all about baby Daniel and his exploits, but occasionally I do take other pictures. I was making this homemade pasta sauce the other day and it was just so beautiful it deserved a mention.

There really was snow outside

I took this picture last week, positioning Daniel so that you might see the FOOT OF SNOW on the barbeque behind him. Alas, it was too bright so you'll just have to believe me. It was there. Yes, in the middle of May. The better part of the picture is Daniel's grin anyway- I think he was excited to be in a different part of the kitchen.

Daniel versus breakfast

I don't think these need much narration from me- he's pretty expressive!

Could he get any cuter?

Daniel is just over seven months old now and turning into quite a little ham. He has started smiling for the camera now (sometimes) and was doing quite a bit of giggling while I toook these.
