Daniel makes his acting debut

Daniel was in the Christmas play performance yesterday in the role of Obed, son of Ruth & Boaz & an ancestor to Jesus. He was originally asked to be the baby Jesus since he is, in fact, the only boy in a sea of baby girls, but he got too big to be believable as a newborn & was switched to the other role. He seemed to enjoy getting to go for a look around in the middle of the service & thankfully didn't decide to make his a speaking role.

Above: Daniel is being held by "Naomi" & "Ruth" after the play was over. They didn't want to give him back but we insisted.

Below: "Naomi" comes to borrow Daniel from us for his big acting debut. He was paraded around & shown off for a few minutes and then brought back to us.

Keith held a sleeping Daniel for the big group shot after the service. There were way more people involved than are in my picture.

Daniel received rave reviews for his performance as a beautiful baby, but so far it doesn't seem to have gone to his head.

New scale?

Dumbo the Elephant replaced by Mortimer the Moose? Time will tell.

11 weeks

Well, the end of counting in weeks is soon approaching. Daniel is 11 weeks old in this picture and it's getting difficult to get all of him and Dumbo in the same shot straight on. He's also getting wise to the camera (Daniel, not Dumbo). Quite often he'll be smiling and cooing at me, but as soon as I pick the camera the smile disappears and is replaced by a look of "What are you doing?" He seems to have inherited his Uncle Kellen's aversion to being photographed so I guess I will just have to resort to other tactics. Coming soon: short videos (I hope).

Growing, growing, growing...

Uncle Stephen came to visit for Daniel's 2 month "birthday" & the two of them got along famously.

Daniel is developing an ever widening range of facial expressions. The pictures on the striped blanket are from today- he is now 10 weeks old.

Working on lifting his head to look Dumbo in the eye.

First smiles captured

Sorry for the long hiatus- our computer crashed not long after the last post & it was a few days before we could get it fixed. Thankfully most things were backed up on an external hard drive, and Keith's tech person at school was able to recover quite a bit for us as well.

Daniel is smiling all the time now, as well as cooing and giggling. He's pretty sure that he can talk with us, but it's mostly oohs and aahs and something that sounds like a long "hi".

First Playdate

Above: Here is Daniel with his other elephant (No, we are not crazy elephant collecting people, Keith & I bought this one in London because it was just too cute. We have now met our quota of pachyderms). This is not the elephant comparison shot of the week, I'll try to take that later.

Below: On Friday, Daniel & I walked over to a friend's house & he ended up having his first play date. The other baby boy is a exactly week younger than Daniel, though you can't tell from their relative sizes!

Family photos

My parents managed to fit another quick visit into their busy schedules. It may have been short, but for just about the whole visit one or the other was holding Daniel. :)

Winter has arrived

Remember that green grass? The very next afternoon the snow came. Perfect, snowglobe-like snow. We had some errands to run & came home to find our pumpkin doing it's best lone ranger impression. Yes, the pumpkins should have been tossed by now, but then I wouldn't have had this picture. Sometimes laziness pays off.

Six weeks old

Daniel is six weeks old today. We decided to do the Dumbo comparison outside on the green grass- yes, that's green grass on November 3rd! Below are all the cards we've received from family and friends since his birth. Thanks everyone!

Aren't babies supposed to sleep all the time?

Daniel turned one month old last week and his Auntie Melissa came down for a quick visit.
Here Daniel is looking very awake for a baby who has been up for over four hours. He made it all the way to five before finally giving in to sleep... for a little while.

4 weeks old!

Here is the Dumbo vs. Daniel comparison, hopefully from an angle that I won't hear complaints about! :)

We took Daniel & Keith's parents down to Indian Battle Park yesterday to take some pictures. It's usually a little less windy down there so a few trees still had their leaves.
We thought it would be nice to get some multi-generational pictures while they were here & the weather even cooperated a little.
Daniel may have passed Dumbo for size, but he's got a ways to go when it comes to Sam...

And tomorrow Daniel will be a month old!

Friday 17 October 2008

We are still taking pics...

Here are Daniel & Dumbo; Daniel is 3 weeks old (plus a day) and is starting to get a bit chubbier & longer.
Daniel puts on his angry dictator face...
and later practices looking angelic.

What are the chances he'll strike a pose when we actually want him to?

I should be sleeping...

Keith & Daniel taking a well deserved nap.
Not sure about all these photos.
Ready to go out on the town for a couple hours on Saturday. Very cute sleeper, Christine!

I should probably be sleeping, but I thought I should at least throw a few pictures your way before I hear complaints!

One week old

Daniel turned a week old yesterday. He went for his first doctor's appointment and then his first "walk" to the park. He is now only two ounces shy of his birth weight, right on average, and above average for his length (not sure how that happened).

Daniel Update

Daniel pondering a mystery of the universe, "Is that gas going up or down?"
Sleeping peacefully. Yay!
Above: With his Great Grandma Snelgrove.

Below: Our first night at home was tough and we were already seriously sleep deprived. Take a look at how my Mom found Keith was trying to put on his sleeper the next morning.

Daniel and his parents are adjusting to life at home. It's a steep learning curve, but it helps that he is usually such a happy little fellow. Keith has been going above and beyond the call of husbandly duty to help me recover from the past week, and I feel better each day. Thanks again to everyone who has emailed, called and made us meals. I wish I had known how to be so helpful to my friends who have already had their babies! I promise to do better now that I know better!

A sleeping angel ... for now?
