Science centre fun

During winter break we took a day to go to the new science centre in Calgary. The kids & I had gone about a month ago while Keith was attending meetings in the city, and we had so much fun that we decided to go again. We spent most of our time in the Creative Kids gallery which is aimed at younger visitors.

Daniel really enjoyed playing at the dominoes table with his Dad.

Sophie loved this mirror in the toddler area. I'm a bit concerned that she already seems to know how to do ballet. Better start saving now.

Both kids had fun at the bubble piano. Daniel loves to play, and Sophie was entranced by the bubbles.

Here's a short video of how the piano works. In the background you can see the big treehouse which was also a favourite of Daniel's.

Family Day

Is there anything better than a long weekend? We spent most of the weekend at home catching up on general life maintenance & having some together time. I wanted to get a picture of Sophie munching on her cucumbers (one of her favourites lately) and then, of course, Daniel needed a picture too.

Monday afternoon we headed over to the university for a family play day event & had a family photo taken. There was so much to do and see we couldn't possibly get to it all. We spent most of our time there in the obstacle course, basketball, and swimming areas. What a great time! Hopefully they put it on again next year.

Trouble

Sophie is on the move and she could not be more excited about being able to go exploring the world in a new way. Her big brother's world, however, is turning upside down. When she first started pulling herself up to standing, Daniel would cheer, "Yay, Sophie!", but when she began showing interest in his train table he became far less enthusiastic. We now have a barricade of furniture in our living room to give Daniel one "safe spot" for his toys which are too small, fragile or special to share with a toddler.

What Sophie would really like to get her hands on are Daniel's diggers. As soon as he goes to bath time or bed, Sophie makes a beeline for them. Thankfully, we have had a sharing breakthrough this week & she can now play with some of them along with Daniel. Sometimes.
